What We Do

What is a Chamber of Commerce?

A Chamber of Commerce is borne into existence to give expression to the businessman’s natural instincts of improving his market place and community.  Your Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary partnership of business and professional people working to build a healthy economy and to improve the quality of life in your community.

As your chamber works to accomplish these goals, it wears many hats:  economic developer and planner; tourist information center; business spokesperson; economic counselor and teacher; government relations’ specialist; human resource adviser; and public relations practitioner.  Its strength lies in attracting the greatest number of firms into membership, thereby creating a pool of resources from which can be drawn ideas, talents, energies and finances.  These resources are used to solve problems of business management in this Bunkie market place.

A Chamber of Commerce enables businessmen and women to accomplish collectively what no one of them could or would do individually.  It gives them a voice in government affairs locally, as well as nationally, in a united effort to improve the overall well being.

Simply stated, your Chamber of Commerce is business and professional people working together to make your community a better place for everyone to live and work.

A Chamber of Commerce is not a department of the city, parish, or state government; a political body, a civic club or professional society; a social service, welfare, or charitable institution; a private advertising, publicity or public relations agency.

Purpose

The overall objective of the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce is to assure progressive, orderly, community development; effective government at all levels; and maintain a high climate for a sound expanding economy.

It is the CONSCIENCE and the WILL of the community – the conscience to seek out the community faults and the collective will of its members to overcome them……
